Please select the appropriate box to indicate whether the application is being made to obtain a temporary or a permanent license. A temporary license allows a corporation to transact business in Ohio for a period of six months. Pursuant to Ohio Revised Code §1703.13, no foreign corporation shall be granted more than two temporary licenses within any period of three years. A permanent license allows a corporation to transact business in Ohio until the license is cancelled or surrendered. However, a foreign corporation which should have obtained a license must file for a license and pay an additional $250 fee in order to prosecute or defend any legal action arising at the time it was not licensed to transact business in this state. Corporation that has been Transacting Business in Ohio Without a License If the corporation began transacting business in Ohio prior to 2009 without obtaining a license, the corporation must attach a certificate from the tax commissioner which states that the corporation has paid off all franchises taxes which it should have paid had it qualified to do business in Ohio at the time it began to do so.
