The mission of the Saginaw Income Tax Department: To administer the Uniform Income Tax Ordinance (adopted in 1964) and process the collection of all income tax revenue fairly and efficiently.

Welcome to the City of Saginaw's Income Tax Section. If you browse the navigation on the left of the screen, you will find info on our many helpful sections. First, the Customer Service Section assists customers via telephone or at the counter as well as processes all tax payments and issues monthly billings. Please contact the Income Tax Department at (989) 759-1650.

The individual income tax section administers the income tax on individuals. They review and process 1040 returns, issue refunds and assessments. They also Develop and runs compliance programs. Contact info: DWalker@Saginaw-mi.com or Phone (989) 759-1571.

The employer withholding tax section administers employer withholding of income tax, also reviews and reconciles SW-3's, and issues refunds and assessments. They develop and run compliance programs. Contact info: Martin Chelekis - Email at: MChelekis@Saginaw-MI.com Phone (989) 759-1655.

The corporate and Partnership Section Administers the income tax on corporations and partnerships; reviews and processes returns, issues refunds and assessments. This section also develops and runs compliance programs. Janet Schramke - Email at JSchramke@Saginaw-MI.com or Phone (989) 759-1651.

The compliance/collection section processes and reviews bankruptcy claims; prepares court files and requests arrest warrants, tracks payment progress with court.

Individual Residents and Corporations - 1.50% Individual Non-Residents - .75%

Tax Return Filing Dates

City of Saginaw Income Tax returns are due on or before April 30, or within four months after the end of your fiscal year.

Estimated Payment Due Dates

Quarterly payments are due on or before April 30, June 30, September 30, and January 31.

Things to remember...

Office hours for the Treasury, Income Tax, Assessor, Water and Sewer Accounts, and the City Clerk are 8:00 to 4:00 P.M.
Payments are considered received upon receipt. Postmark dates are not accepted as received by the due date for any payment with the exception of income taxes.
Payments deposited in the drop box after 4:00 P.M. will be processed on the next business day.
